Unity Project wins ‘Planning Permission of the Year’ Award
06/06/2018

We are delighted to announce that Unity, one of the largest regeneration schemes in the country, won the award for “Planning Permission of the Year” at the Planning Awards 2018.

The development will transform and regenerate a huge area of North Doncaster opening up 41ha of employment land and 3100 dwellings via a new link road off Junction 5 of the M18.

Unity was granted outline permission in April 2017. Developer Waystone worked with Doncaster Council‘s Planning and Major Projects teams along with the Homes and Communities Agency to develop plans for this scheme comprising 3,100 homes, commercial uses, open space, a marina, energy centre, school and transport network.

It is included as a strategic objective in both the authority’s core strategy and the Sheffield City Region growth strategy.

The national award achievement is one of the highest accolades in the industry, which was celebrated on 6 June with a prestigious ceremony in London organised by Planning magazine in conjunction with PlanningResource and PlacemakingResource.

Judges described the development as a “transformational project for the area” and highlighted “the integrated approach to employment, homes and leisure”.
